Papers of Lange, a vice-president of the International Association of Tool Craftsmen (IATC), a small independent union formed in Rock Island, Illinois in 1953 to organize tool and die makers by craft. Lange lived in Racine, Wisconsin where in 1954 he became involved in the organization of several Racine locals, and served as chair of Local 2. He was involved with Local 849 (formerly Local 849 of the International Association of Machinists) which was decertified after a strike at Massey-Harris-Ferguson, and with Local 2's successful negotiation of a contract with the John Oster Manufacturing Company. The papers consist of published constitutions and by-laws; photocopied scrapbooks (labelled with the name Richard Hansen); chronological correspondence exchanged with national IATC officers, Racine corporate executives, and attorneys representing the IATC in NLRB litigation; minutes and mass mailings from the international; and bargaining notes, minutes, and agreements. Additional documents relate to conflict with IAM and Local 244, UAW-CIO. The oversize folder is a detailed evaluation of the status of negotiations with Massey-Harris-Ferguson. Two photographs of Lange and the officers of the IATC have been removed to the Visual Materials Name File under "Lange."
